Epiq sidekick. Have one? Thoughts here

I'm trading in my big box this week on one of two things. Either the new epiq sidekick or a krsc46g with a side cabinet and side drawer bank. But I want to know from the people who have the new sidekick, what do you think so far? I already have a krsc46g and I love it. But am tempted by the sidekick. I wanna know if it's worth pursuing. Thanks ahead of time.

How much are they selling it for?

IMO I would go with a sliding top 46. I know list is 5400 but they aren't that big

They list it at like $5400, But the box truck is in town this week so we think around $4700 or so. That's actually what I was looking at was the sliding top krsc43 that is only $1895

Just get a real box for that much. I paid 5500 for a 68 with power top off the truck

He gave me $3,900 for a double wide craftsmen. Surely you can do better

The sidekick has more space inside of it than a KRL722, to give you an idea. It's 30 inches deep, just as tall as an epiq. It's essentially the wide bank of a 60 inch epiq.

I just ordered one also. 7-10 weeks build time. I passed when the rock n roll cab express came through for $3950 plus rebate. I really need something now and luckily my driver made me a deal pretty close to that.

What are you trading in?

The sidekicks are monstrous, I don't think you can compare them to anything else.

They look odd to me, kind of like one of those old dishwashers that you pullout and use in the middle of the room, remember those?

Not to hurt anyones feelings but the Sidekick price is disgusting. $4700 is not an improvement. Let them sit in their warehouses until they get real and drop the price considerably. You can buy a nice used KRL and a brand new KRSC46 for that. Items like these make me think Snap-On forgets they're selling primarily to automotive technicians. 5 grand for a roll cart :wtf:.

If you just want a big damn cart look at the Cornwell Work Center. CTBMM800 44x26x47.

It's not a cart, it's a super duty single back toolbox that will hold your screwdrivers and prybars on the sides, mount a power strip inside for chargers, stainless top, and the best casters and drawers in the business.

5k for a cart...to rich for my blood. you could buy a nice masters series or classic twice or even triple the size with way more room for that. I get that it is built better than the other series but still I am not paying 5k for a tiny cart.

They are the complete opposite of tiny. They are HUGE! 30 inches deep and tall! Same size as a 722 in terms of storage.

It's a cart. It's marketed as a cart there fore it's a cart

Like I said you can buy a full size new epiq for what they want for it.

You can line a wall up with ten HF44 on sale for what they want for it, and still come out ahead for both storage space and price. But we're not talking about numbers here. The OP traded his big box for one of these beasts of a "cart", if he wanted a bigger box I'm sure he won't be asking about the Sidekiq.

You can't maneuver a full size Epiq in the shop as easily as the Sidekiq. These Sidekiqs have more storage room than a full size KRL722 (26000in^3 vs 23000in^3). Since the introduction of those KRSC series "carts", the line between a toolcart and a toolbox have blurred.

To a layman, they're all toolboxs. If they get moved around, then maybe you can subclassify it as a cart. Its all about the utility.

Thanks guys. I'm trading in my 722 cuz I need a smaller box for our trailer for the racetrack. I have the 46 cart right now, and was interested in the epiq cart just for shop ease. The 722 with the hutch is too heavy for our trailer fully loaded.

I mostly wanna know if it's worth the $$. Cuz obviously epiq is like its name and is the top of the mountain as far as tool boxes. But if another 46 is more bang for the buck I'll go with that, with some additions too of course lol

Retail and what you pay are two different things. Retail on my setup was $13,500. I paid 5500 otd with tax

I would get another krsc. I want a sliding top one as well, but I also want a hitch and locker. Decisions lol

Not remotely. Its the worst value cart/toolbox you could buy. Realistically the thing should be closer to 3k, not 5k. That's laughable. You can get yourself a couple KRSC46s or 246s and have a good chunk of change left over. If you're willing to consider other brands theres also the Cornwell workstation which is 2G and similar in size to the EPIQ, and Matco has their JSC750. The pricing of the Sidekick makes these other products look like bargains.

Matco JSC750 has 1/2 the weight rating of the epiq is 25% smaller and is not a lifetime warranty

cornwell is a little smaller has almost the same weight rating but i never see a cornwell truck ,

i was quoted 2700.00 for a epiq side kick after rebate and before tax

or 2903.00 out the door

I don't know what though otd means but around here you will never get a deal like that from snap on

My guess is that they build the SideKIQ with the same materials they do their Epiq boxes. As much as I love Snap On boxes/carts. If I had an Epiq then i might get the SideKIQ but at $5300 retail it's a tough pill to swallow. I own the Krsc246 and i absolutely love it.
Here's a link for the sideKIQ

The Cornwell cart mentioned above is pretty huge, i've seen it once and i think it's pretty nice too.

The matco jsc770 is a nice cart bought mine for $1300 with a $200 trade in. Much better bargain per square inch.

The sidekick is very nice but its just to damn expensive.

I was just suggesting some alternative carts, not necessarily direct replacements. I also wouldn't place too much heed on drawer ratings over a certain point unless you plan on filling it with lead.

I think just about everyone here will agree you have one of the best dealers in the country when it comes to box discounts. I could be very very very tempted to get a white sidekick for 2.9, but 5k is a laugh.
