Epopxy thickness

Hi,
what is the best thickness to install epoxy?
E.g. an epoxy with 3/16 of an inch (187 mils): Isn't this to thick to install it one layer? Could this thickness generate more bubbles?

30 mils is about the thickest you want to go in one shot. This is approx 10 sheets of paper as a comparison.

Your product data sheet will tell you the minimum and maximum DFT to use per coat.

If you want additional thickness either choose a true self leveling coating (aggregate fortified) or better yet do a double broadcast.

Placing these coatings in a thickness beyond 30 mils could cause bubbles and possibly fracture. Aggregates give strength and prevent fracture.

with many products - you have exceeded, thereby destroyed, the chemical and physical bonding properties for the product to set/harden and work as designed.

Check with your maker. It WILL be a chore to remove that much partially correct product, if you have to.

Hi,
If you are looking for that thick of a floor and want to apply it in a single coat we carry Urethane Mortars. These are the 'next step' after epoxy and are 3 component slurry type systems and truly self level. They are superb for high thermal shock and are usually used in food processing and brewery projects we do.

There is an A and a B and a special aggregate blend that makes a slurry like pancake batter and gets applied with a gauge rake. Cost though is not inexpensive about $4.25/sq ft due to the large amount of material required.
