Sherwin-Williams Armorseal 1000 HS
http://www.sherlink.com/sher-link/ImgServ?id=datapages/armorseal_1000_hs_epoxy_8-22.pdf

Price: ~$60 (discounted) -$129 (list)/gallon
Coverage: 206-350 sqft/gallon/coat
Reducer #5: ~$28/gallon (use 1 pint/gallon epoxy for prime coat)

$60/350 = $0.17 sqft
$129/206 = $0.63 sqft

Price range: $0.17-$0.63 sqft (not including reducer)

Note: This is the pricing I experienced (per coat):

800 sqft/2.5 gallons (unreduced) = 320 sqft/gallon @ $60 gallon = $0.19 sqft
800 sqft/2.25 gallons (reduced) = 356 sqft/gallon @ $60 gallon + 1 gallon reducer = $0.20 sqft

Luke- modify as needed to conform to your standards. Are your other prices listed per coat?

When I inquired a few months ago it was $2.79 per sqft.

Yeah, I think it is about $3ft shipped for the Diamond and Circletrac. Any idea on the others?

bigfoot rubber

I got my sample of bigfoot rubber tile and it is very nice. It is as good as the rubber tile from floorsurfaces.com in my opinion and far less expensive.

Daytona or Xylon from Sportcourt available from me at 2.45 per tile. The Daytona is a tread pattern Xylon is a tile with channels to allow mosture to pass through. I have had both these products in my garage for years and am very happy with their performance.

Just some input from experience: I used the Behr 1 part epoxy garage floor paint, and is not worth it. I found the stuff wore off within 6 months, where your tires drive into the garage and park, along with the satin finish being quite dull, almost more flat. Impossible for any warranty etc since it's always your fault. In my new 3rd bay addition to my double garage, I will definately use a good brand epoxy finish.

This is a great site for anyone who appreciates thier shop and toys!

I just got a quote a couple of days ago. 825 sq ft = $2.99 shipped. This does not include the tapered edges for the garage door entrance. The edges are 12" x 3" and sell for $2 each.

I think I'll be going with something else.

You forgot to mention Armstrong VCT tile... 80 cents a square foot in most cases, maybe even less...wears like iron, won't flake or peel, the moon and stars don't have to be positioned just right to apply it, and IMO, looks as good or better than anything else.

If you're worried about it being slippery, just don't wax it. This is the same stuff they use in WalMart's, grocery stores, etc... where people are walking in and out with wet feet year-round. a mat near the doorto wipe your feet would also add a bit of peace of mind if you're overly concerned about not being able to walk on a wet floor. I also have floor drains directly under each car.

Are you saying when it is wet it is not that slick? how would it compare to concrete in slick? Any concerns about it sticking in this nasty cold weather?? How about adhesion to an old floor that has had oil spilled?

Thanks

That will be slicker than plain concrete if it's wet. I would wait for a better weather condition when applying epoxy. I applied mine in the winter and the end part by the garage door did not dry very well. I have to sand and re-apply in the summer time. If you have oil spill you need to rent a floor grinder/diamond cutter to get all the contaminants off otherwise the epoxy will not stick and the reaction of the paint will not be pretty.

Hi,

I'm new to the board and am looking for a garage solution. Are these concret tiles or rubber tiles? What kin dof maintennace/upkeep do your white tiles require?

What is your experience with fluid stains (diff, oil, gas) getting on these tiles?

How to carts with wheels that may have 75-100 lbs on them maneuver on the flooring?

What are your experiences with heavy objects *Wheelbarrow, heavy jacks, carts with heavy weight on them on them.)? Do they indent the tiles?

I have heard about the noise as well. I received a sample in the mail and these things must clatter on concrete!

In a Garage, of course
I'd like to add the stuff I used to the list: "Hard Deck" epoxy system from Air-Tech Coatings http://www.airtechcoatings.com/harddeck.html

It's made for hangar floors. Two coats of epoxy with a poly-something clear coat. Materials cost me about $0.50/sq-ft total for the 3 coat process.

Chemical resistance is outstanding. Petroleum products, organic solvents, and other harsh stuff does not touch it. Paint overspray usually just wipes up after it dries; if not spray it with brake cleaner or other solvent. It hasn't been quite as mechanically durable as I hoped. Whipping a metal-wheeled floor jack around like I used to can scratch or gouge it, and I use plywood pads under jack stands. But usually anything that nicks the coating actually makes a divot in the concrete, so I can't really *****.

Benjamin Moore Industrial coating. Used M41 as a prime coat (moisture resistant), then M40 for 2 more coats. Did myself - there is flows of course :) but it seem to be VERY durable. Will use next time when needed

about $500 for 425sqft.

I used:

Amershield VOC (http://www.frazee.com/products/specs/ameron.htm)

It's not a polyamide epoxy, but aliphatic polyurethane (whatever the heck that is). It's an industrial product, used on concrete and metal. For example, the exposed metal rafters at PetCo park are covered with this stuff in a white color. I sprinkled paint flakes on mine.

$100 per kit, which includes:
- 1 gallon solids
- 1 qt. activator
- Supposed to cover 234 sq. feet at 5mils. It does, but I stretched it out and found it needed a second coat to completely cover up thin spots.

I was told you don't have to use a primer if you prep the concrete well.

Regarding the Behr you have listed here. If it is not in 2 parts, it is not true epoxy. They shouldn't be allowed to advertise it as such.

Also, I would like to add to the list the epoxy by Griot's Garage.

www.griotsgarage.com
$58.99/gallon that covers 130 sqft.

Joe, check the Armstrong website. They might have a list of distributors worldwide. If not, e-mail them and ask how you would go about ordering from them.

Friend is looking to do his floor, and a local places sells "Tamms Dural" epoxy. This is a shop that specializes in nothing but concrete floors and coatings. The dealer was apparently very helpful, and specifically recommended two coats of "Dural 304". We'll see how it turns out. It was $570CDN+tx for 3 kits covering 500sqft each, so it's about $0.38CDN/ft or $0.34US/ft. It comes in a white or light grey tintable base. I'll let you know how it applies, maybe post some pics with permission.

As a professional Garage remodeler, I used many of the above metioned products. I have had poor results with quite a few. PM me with for details.

A manufacture that I have been using for the past 3 years with NO failures is Durall Mgf out of Minniapolis Minesota. great products with good pricing. Not the cheapest but I give a 15 year warranty on all my floors using their products.

Products
Duraseal 400: thin layer epoxy coating: approx $.30 a square
Durapoxy: high build epoxy: approx $.80 a square
sunshine polyurethane: UV inhibitor top coat. approx $ .30 square

colored Chips: $4 a lbs.
quartz crystals: $30 per 50 lbs bag.

I don't know of anyone using it but Drylock has a water-based epoxy product called E-1. Not sure if it's any good but just putting it out there.

Do not use any "Water based" epoxy product on your floor...... They will not last and will peal in 1 to 3 years... I repair appoximately 5 to 10 jobs a year because the owner used a water based epoxy and it has failed.

spend the extra money on a quality petroleum based epoxy product.

Good to know, maybe this E-1 would be better served as a basement paint.

This is the brand we put down in our kennel training building last year. We actually put in on a composite wood subfloor. The kit came with a primer instead of the etch n clean. We have been very pleased with the results. The floor has held up very well to large dogs with very tough toenails. We added the silicone non-slip because we knew wet dogs would be on the floor.
If I do an epoxy floor for my garage, this is the brand I'm planning on going with. I like that they offer more base colors and many more flake colors. Also the customer service was exemplary.
It came out to about .60 per square foot.

Were the prices of $3.00 sq ft for Race Deck tiles from Race Deck dealers or some other distributors? I am looking to put down about 1500 sq ft in a garage. Have it in an airplane hangar now and have been very pleased. Also the ease to put down. Difficult to move all the stuff out of the garage for several days to put down epoxy

Thanks 65vetteracer. That's what what I ended up doing. Cost was 2.99 per sq ft with free shipping. (Said the breakpoint was around 1400 sq. ft. to get that price, but who knows about that)? Took about a week for delivery and installed it in a couple of days. Only reason it took that long was because I didn't want to move everything outside at once. Ended up being something similar to changing underwear with pants already on, but it worked.

Thanks again.

Check out SwissTrax. It's a bit stouter tile than all the rest and I've got samples of most of the others and you can readily see the difference. More expensive than the rest but looks like it will do the job. Has a 5,120 psi compression strength, 12 year warranty and about 14 colors.

Here’s another tile flooring product to consider:

Tuff-Seal Interlocking Tiles
www.tuffsealtiles.com

Price: $4.95 ft (new); $3.75 ft (recycled)
Heavy-duty 18” x 18” flexible interlocking tiles, 11 colors, 4 surfaces (smooth, stud, cleats, diamond). Samples/orders at website; ships direct to your site.

Once the tiles have been tapped together with a rubber mallet, the interlocking seams are watertight and virtually invisible. I’ve put it down directly over ¼” wide cracks, uneven surfaces, oil/grease stains, old epoxy, you name it with virtually no concrete slab prep except sweep/vac.

Has anyone tried the Aliphatic Urethane Glaze systems? They are a little more expensive but are almost indestructable AND the price includes application by a trained tech. In most cases prep only requires a good power wash and spot cleaning for soaked in oil stains. I provide this service in my area and the results have been outstanding. Unlimited color shades and combinations. Custom logos or virtually any graphic is possible. Check it out...
