Out of my own desire to store things in my garage while doing the floor, I ended up using a combination of epoxy and VCT. When I laid down my epoxy I piled most everything up on the step. Then just this weekend, I bought some VCT and rubber stair nosing and moved everything down onto the floor and installed the tile.
It was just something I did out of necessity, as I didn't want to do the epoxy 1/2 at a time to avoid a seam. But I think it turned out pretty cool.
