Epoxy apply - the all important squeegee

Hello all,

Just wondering if the type of squeegee is important.
I'm getting ready to apply epoxy and came across a sale on a foam squeegee.
I didn't buy it, and would probably go and find a rubber one... but I was wondering if it makes a difference or not.

Rubber works great, metal does as well for some epoxy, but not foam. Straight squeegee or notched squeegee depends on the type of epoxy being applied. Most DIY jobs do fine with a straight one.

Haven't really found a squeegee necessary. You can push the stuff all around with the roller and never have to change tools.

When I did my floor the primer coat was easy to apply and I just used the roller but the main epoxy coat was much thicker and the squeegee came in real handy. I used a rubber squeegee without the notches.

Thanks guys. Picked up a rubber squeegee from HD today.
Going to start the project Wednesday evening (clean)!
