I'm getting ready to order Epoxy-coat. I was looking at the Industrial EpoxyShield by Rustoleum but it looks like epoxy coat has more gloss which is what I'm looking for. With that said should I put 1 or 2 coats of Epoxy-coat down? I know Epoxy-Coat is 100% solids and dries the same thickness it's applied so I think one coat would be fine as opposed to the Rustoleum product that would require two coats for a uniform finish. I just don't want to get one coat down and have an uneven apperance in the floor. Let me know what you guys think.

If your floor is smooth and even, one coat will be fine.

My older floor was hopelessly uneven, so two was the only way to go. However, I planned on two coats due to heavy use, so it worked out.

My floor is in pretty good shape and will see some use but I want to make sure this looks good and is durable. A kit covers up to 500 sq ft and my garage is 425. Will I get a lot better coverage on the second coat. What I'm getting at is I would rather stretch one kit out for two thinner coats or buy a half kit if I can get away with it.

The right answer is largely dependent upon the condition of the underlying surface.

In my case, I had a really bad, pockmarked and pitted concrete surface to which I applied 2 coats of SW ArmorSeal. In hindsight, I should have applied 4 coats to "fill in" the craters.

A friend had his floor done professionally. The pro's mixed up the epoxy and literally poured it on about 1/2" thick, and spread it around with lawn rakes while wearing shoes with high spikes (like golf shoes). His floor looks awesome.
