I put down epoxy-coat (with paint chips) 19 years ago in my 22x20' detached workshop. And some kind of urethane? topcoat that I can't remember the brand.

The epoxy-coat has held up extremely well. I did have some yellowing under the tires of my riding mower. Maybe due to the topcoat.

I've since moved the mower out and have been using the workshop 100% for woodworking since 2008. The floor has accumulated a lot of glue, stain, epoxy, paint, and other blobs that I neglected to cleanup and remove.

My plan is to sand down the floor enough to get rid of the blobs, but not remove the existing epoxy-coat totally. Just sand down enough to get rid of the paint/glue blobs. Then apply another coat of epoxy-coat. Just clear - maybe more chips.

I test sanded a spot and it looks like the paint chip look may thin out due to the sanding. That's ok with me.

My question is this. Will the sanded down existing epoxy-coat be ok for the base of a new coat of epoxy? And is the epoxy-coat I see online today the same as I bought in 2006? Doesn't look like it. Or is there a better brand to use as an overlay in my case?

Also, almost everything in my shop is on wheels and will be moved out to do the new coat. But I have a couple craftsman workbenches holding up cabinets that I don't want to move. And a miter saw station that is not one wheels that I could move, but I'd prefer not to.

Question is whether or not I could feather the new epoxy under these benches around the bench legs.
