Epoxy Coat application - Questions

I just purchased the Epoxy coat kit for my third and single car garage.
I live in Phoenix AZ and house is a new construction property that is about 18 months old. Thus the concrete in the garages is fairly new and in good shape. The garage that I am going to apply the Epoxy coat has been used to store boxes and thus a car has never been in there. The only other thing that this garage has been used for is to apply laquer to redwood planks. Whilst doing this wood laquering I did spill a few drops of the laquer onto the concrete. That is about the extent of the the damage to the concrete floor in the garage.

Question: Do I need to use a diamond concrete grinder to clean my floor? Or can I get away with just water and/or a degreaser?

Thanks!

Does the word "peely" mean anything to you.
The smoother and newer the floor, the more you need to grind it.

Epoxies need "hills and valleys" to lock into. They can't lock into a smooth floor.

You will need to profile the concrete, either with the acisd in the kit or with a diamond grinder. If you are concerned about the lacquer on the floor, you could probably remove that residue with some rough sandpaper, then do the acid wash. Hope this helps.

Another question: I have a couple bottles of Muriatic Acid that I use for my pool. Can I use this for acid washing the floor? Is it the same stuff or is there a specific Muriatic acid for concrete?

You can use that. You should mix it 4 parts water, 1 part acid. Always pour the acid into the water, not the water into the acid.
