I've got a small section about 2 inches by 4 inches where some of the full strength acid spilled and i didn't realize it until it was too late. The acid ate through down to the rock in the concrete. What would be the best way to patch the area before applying my epoxy coat?

Some other suppliers will probably have good advice on products, I can only say that the heavy etched section will look a bit different when you coat over it, if you lightly grind the surface it will help, but not fully correct it, if you patch it the patch will be smoother than the rest of the floor and might show as well. Good luck!

I have used this for such problems:

The main advantages are that it is probably available at a local hardware store, and it is more suitable for small areas like you're talking about. (I.e, you don't have to buy a full gallon size kit.) Around here it's about $20. Use a putty knife and get it nice and level.

For optimal results, use a grinder to feather it into the surrounding area after it hardens and it will be 100% unnoticeable under a good epoxy coating.

The product I posted is a 100% solids filler and I'd bet money it works with their system.

Legacy Industrial's products are great (I'm using them at home right now!) but I can't speak for them. I posted the Rustoleum option mostly because if you can find it (check local Ace, etc.) you won't have to wait for a package.

I'm sure rugerlady can give you more information but I'd wager some real cash that their system is compatible with any high quality epoxy patching system.

You are right munkey. Rugerlady just responded and said it would work fine. Thanks again for your help!
