So the last garage I built I used a kit shipped from Epoxy-Coat.com. Think this was around 10 years ago. At the time they were one of the main companies used on this forum. Now, I can’t seem to find ANY mention of them. Saw they recently changed the website name. I’ve recommended them to 5 or 5 people, all have been extremely happy and had no issues long term (myself included).

Sooooo was there some issue with them ? Getting ready to order for my new 50x30 and want to make sure nothing has changed with then.

I was considering the same. No response to your question. Interesting.

Same here - I've used epoxy-coat.com on 5 different garage floors over the past 15+ years, all with outstanding results, no problems whatsoever. They seem to have "rebranded", but their products look the same, with the addition of polyaspartic top coat options now. I'm about to do another floor, and plan to use them again, given my good track record with them so far, only decision is whether to go with their standard top coat, or with the polyaspartic which I've not used before.

Epoxy-Coat was one of the predominant vendors that offered commercial-quality 100% solids colored and clear epoxy to the general public years ago. They had good customer service with helpful participation here on the GJ. As time went by, they seemed to fall behind with the newer concrete coatings available for DIY application to the general public.

They have since rebranded as PerformanceDIY Certified Coatings. The main difference, as far as I can tell, is that they now offer a polyaspartic clear coat for their kits.

10 years ago is about the last time I logged on here. Did a ton of research back then, settled on Epoxy-coat, and then got carried away with life and other projects. I'm now re-evaluating and getting ready to have a go at it again. I learned so much on here, from my shop lighting and layout and the floor is the only thing I didn't pull the trigger on. Let's go!

Is it still best practice to lay those rods into the relief channels and epoxy over them? Did anyone ever buy EC under the new branding?

When using a flexible joint filler, such as our IntegraFlex 1921, consider these guidelines.
For saw cut joints or cracks up to ~3/8" we recommend: Seamless Expansion Joint Detail (backer rod depth should be 1.5xW)
For wider joints/cracks we recommend: Expansion Joint Detail (backer rod depth should be 1.5xW)

For a seamless coating over wider troweled joints or cracks go with the Seamless Expansion Joint Detail but substitute the IntgraFlex 1921 with our TrowelEase 1162 or TrowelEase 1162PK. Typically troweled joints will not have sufficient depth to achieve the 1.5x backer rod placement depth. In these situations forego the use of backer rod and fill completely with TrowelEase 1162.

Replying to myself :) I should have noted, the one issue I always had with the 2part epoxy product from epoxy-coat.com was that it was not UV stable and definitely yellowed over time. For the garage floor I'm doing this week, it gets full sunlight, so I decided at the last minute to go with Legacy Indutrial's polyurea product instead, which is UV stable.
