I'm looking at ordering Epoxy-Coat from Lowes as I have seen a lot of support for it here. But the description on Lowes site is lacking and I was trying to get some clarification.

First is the flakes. Any idea how much is in the 3 and 1.5 gallon kits? Also what are their colors in case I want to buy more to do a heavier coverage? I'm looking at the light grey base color.

Do these kits come with the prep wash? It doesn't look like it from the picture but who knows. Either way, is there something else I can use in case I need more? Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the "taupe" color, the flakes are white, brown, beige, and chocolate. The 3 gallon kit includes 1.5 pounds of flakes. You can either order more online from E-C, or Lowes also sells extras, though not under the E-C brand.

The kit will also come with prep wash. If you want more, I've read of others on here buying extra acid(muriatic, I believe??).

Call me at the office and I can help you with all of this. A full kit will come with an acid wash and 1 1/2 lb flake. The Taupe comes standard with black, white, brown, autumn brown, and scone (or beige blend). The Gray comes with black, white and granite (or gray blend). You can select any of our flake colors with a special order. At Lowe's we are called Performance Epoxy Coat or just Epoxy-Coat.

Thanks Christine, I think you answered my questions. But now I'm thinking about going with the dark grey, what are the color flakes in that kit?

Check the Epoxy-Coat web site for a wealth of information.

Also, call or email Christine McGuire. She is unbelievably helpful.

:rocker:Christine is Epoxy-Coat's #1 asset: even the people at Lowes rely on her to get things right!

Does Lowes also carry the top coat?

They do not. You have to special order it. I'm going to do top coat on my floor and she told me to order from the website and get the base coat at lowes.

I do have a question for Christine since I didn't get a chance to call her today.

Are the tools easy to clean up after the basecoat is applied? I'm debating whether to order the topcoat with or without tools. I don't want the tools to be ruined/contaminated with basecoat if I want to use them for the topcoat.

Just get the kit with the tools, its a PITA to clean them. If you order without tools, its only a 10.00 credit. Call me directly if you need help with pricing or ordering correctly.

That's an understatement. You want the tools from the kit and extras. When Epoxy Coat begins to set up, it sets up hard. Just throw the old tools away. You'll be glad you did.

Christine,

I called you this afternoon to discuss but you were out. How is it only a $10 credit? The cost difference on the site is almost $45?

I got my base Coat from lowes and now all I need is some extra flake and the topcoat.
