Ok, I have read all about prep the floors, And I am ready to purchase, except for a few question that bother me.
I plan on using Epoxy-Coat 384 fl. oz. interior high gloss garage floor epoxy kit at Lowes.
1. I have 505 sq. ft. the kit comes in 500 sq. ft, do I hope to stretch what is in the cans or do they sell quarts or 1 gallons or do I need it?
2. The label says high gloss, do I need to apply a top clear coat?

The garage is new construction, slab has been poured for 6 months, not sure if they sealed it, but will do water test to confirm.

Or go with other brands? Like Sherwin Williams or Berh from Home depot

I would recommend purchasing a full kit and a touch up kit. This can cover up to 560 sq ft. Coverage will depend on the condition of your concrete, how porous your concrete is, and how thick the coating is applied.
All of our epoxy is high gloss, but the clear coat will give you more of a high gloss finished look, all while doubling your mils in thickness, and sealing in and protecting your decorative flake for life.
If you call the office I can help you with your order, and match Lowe's pricing that we have with them. However, I will not be able to accept any coupons, gift cards, or promotions that you may have with Lowe's.

Epoxy-Coat is one of the good products out there. There is a better than good chance that it will not cover the entire floor however. Once you prep the concrete by either grinding or acid etch, the epoxy is going to be absorbed into the concrete more in some areas and less in others. This reduces your coverage rate and can lead to thin spots that will appear to have a matte or different colored finish. This happens from stretching the epoxy out to try and cover the entire floor.

If you put down an epoxy primer first, then the epoxy will not be absorbed into the concrete and your coverage rate will be much better, but no guarantee it will still go the distance. You can contact Epoxy-Coat directly about purchasing a touch up kit or two to add to the mix or you can check with other companies that package their kits differently. Some sell kits that cover 300sf each for a total of 600sf for the two.

You can read here why a top coat is highly recommended, but it is not required. It will add durability among other things to the floor.

Thanks I would call and order, but the shipping drives the price to high. Another question came to mind, The clear or top coat, is there a certain type or brand? I don't think these x burger flippers at Lowes would have any clue

I can match the free shipping too.
We only offer the 1 kind of clear coat, and it is epoxy.

Great to see another Katy resident here. Be sure and post your progress. Are you going to grind or acid etch before you apply the epoxy? Sounds like Shea recommends it.
