Hi everyone - new to the forum and I'm putting in a 30x40 garage that I'd like to put an epoxy floor on. After perusing this forum, it seems that Epoxy-Coat seems to be the consensus favorite. (Over muscle gloss and u coat it). How has everyone's long term experience been with Epoxy-Coat? Is it any more difficult to use/apply than the others? Would you use it again? I'm only planning on doing this once, so I want to do it right!

I'm happy with my results from Epoxy-Coat done in May, 2006. I had to touchup a few spots that didnt harden. Epoxy-Coat said I didnt mix it good enough. I would use it again if I had an area small enough where I could handle the short pot-life

How large an area did you coat? Were the difficulties you experienced just the result of mixing too much at one time, or were there other factors?

I coated 22' x 24' at about 50 degrees which really wasnt too much of a problem to keep a wet edge at that temp. I did the garage in about 6 mixes.

I did get a touch-up kit to redo about 6 areas each about 3" in diameter. It was about 75 degrees when I did the touch-up and the epoxy got rock hard in the bucket in about 15 minutes. i don't know if this was due to it being a touch-up kit or the heat.

I don't want to take a chance with pot life on my attached garage at 32' x 30' being 80 degrees out so I'm going with H&C silicon acrylic sealer

I did a 22'x24' section on new concrete in the garage addition about 5 years ago, & it still looks excellent.
I also used it on the old section of the floor, but have had a couple small areas about 6" in diameter peel up. Scraped up all the loose stuf, & patched it. It still looks good, but you can tell it's a patch.

New concrete, excellent result.
Old concrete, better prep next time might help.
