Hey guys. Wife and I put down the base coat of Epoxy-Coat this morning at 11:30. (Not a great idea as temps rose and made a few bubbles which I can doctor up as needed - - but that's not my question)

Onto my question, it's 86 degrees right now so the coating is curing very quickly, I can make only a small mark with my fingernail.

Should I put down the clear coat at midnight or so tonight or would it be better to come home during work and do it mid-morning (again, when the temps are still rising)?

Sorry if typos, wife is yelling at me to reward her by taking her to get ice cream..

Thanks guys,
Cory

Back from ice cream. Wanted to be more clear...

#1. I've read that you should wait 12 hrs before applying 2nd coat. Does this "2nd coat" apply to clear coat as well?

#2. I've read that if you wait beyond 24 hrs you should rough up the surface before applying the 2nd coat. Does this apply to clear coat?

#3. Finally if #2 is true, would flakes (like in my pic) count for the "roughed up" surface?

Thanks folks,

Cory:
You have 24 hours to add the next coat, once the initial coat has tacked off.
If you go beyond, the flakes will not aid a connection between the base and the clear.

The floor will have to be scuffed and solvent wiped, in which case the flakes become a PIA.
