Epoxy-Coat Near disaster averted

As some may remember, I goofed up and applied too thick the first time and ran out mid floor. I finally got around to fixing my mistake and Im pretty pleased with the results.

Floor was old, but clean and unsealed. so a good cleaning with etching/cleaner solution was all I needed. That and broom and vacuum about 5 times! Since I messed up and had more than 24hrs for the clear, I had to go back and sand the coated part first. I hit the entire coated portion with scotch bright pads, then finished the base, then clear the following day. My concrete has fibers in it and I didnt bother to burn them off. They actually lay pretty flat and give a good grip on the surface without using the grip solution they give you.

End result is pretty good, although I do see a few thin spots in the color coat, but they have good coverage with clear. I also have one spot i missed with clear (about 6x6 inch) do to the poor lighting and difficulty seeing where you have been with clear to begin with.

Overall I am really happy with the result. Hopefully it holds up well!

Ha, thats an understatement! I was beside myself when I realized I wasnt going to have enough to cover it all! If you look real close you can see a slight difference in the two batches, but not enough for most to notice.

The floor looks really nice, congratulations on getting it done. I do have a question though. In that one picture it sort of looks like there are bubbles showing. Is that just an illusion caused by lighting?

I think that is an illusion. I did have a few bubbles form on the base coat ( about a dozen in the total floor). Once it dried i smoothed them out a bit with the scotch bright pads and cleared over. You can still see the circles ( if your looking) but you can't really feel the ridges since the clear filled them in
