I have finished most of my floor with the Epoxy-Coat and I am pretty impressed. This stuff is tough!

After reading and searching for as much info as I could about putting this stuff down, here is my take on using the stuff.

I started out just mixing 1 gallon batches but found that I had plenty of time to work with it. The day I put it on it was mid 70's and raining. It poured on very soupy and I was able to spread and roll it quickly. I did buy a decent squeegee since the ones that come with the kit are not to sturdy, they kept coming off the extension pole I bought which is a must I think.

After the first kit (3 gallons) was used I decided to mix all 3 gallons at once and pour it on, I had enough time to pour it, squeegee it and I was able to roll it 3 times, although the last time I rolled it it was getting tacky.

I wish I would have bought the spikes for walking on the epoxy, I had major lint/crud coming off the roller that I had to constantly try and reach and pick up. Once that epoxy cured that lint became rock hard.

I am going to try and sand down some of those spots and use my last kit to touch up any imperfections and call it good.

I did not use any flecks and went with the light grey color, using them may have helped hide some of the defects in the floor, but oh well, it's just a shop :)

I think 500 sq ft is pushing it for each kit, my first area was thin in some spots. After that I went for 400-450 sq ft per kit and it seemed easier to cover.

All in all this stuff is amazing! And don't leave any tools with the epoxy on it on the floor, cuz it ain't comin off to easy :lol_hitti

neblinc,

thanks for the write-up. I'll be doing my floor in a few months and sounds like I'll need to order an extra kit.
