Hello all,

I just found this site and have to say this is just the info I was looking for. Excellent site:beer:

I have a new single car Amish built garage (14X28) and want to do something with the wood floor, it's some type of plywood with a hard coating on top. Has anyone epoxied a wood floor? I read on Epoxy-Coat's website that it can be done, I was wondering what kind of results anyone had.

It's either going to be Epoxy or a checkerboard black and white tile, whichever I can do with less money....

I used one coat of Sherwin William’s ArmoSeal 1000H epoxy coating on the wood stairway leading to the second level in two of my on garage additions. It’s holding up great after three years.

i have had a bad experience with epoxy coat so i dont know to be honest i have heard both good and bad... u-coat it is okay but i am not a big fan of their urethane top coat (but it is better than a non uv stable epoxy)

if you call epoxy-coat, they will send you samples on wood. I cant say i was happy with my sample, but they said something must be wrong with it and are making me another.

Musclegloss will also send you a sample, I'll post pics in my epoxy vs thumb thread when they arrive.

I also looked at commercial vinyl (linoleum) tiles. I really like the the look of the black and white checkerboard. This garage is mainly going to be used as a motorcycle workshop. I just don't know if the vinyl will hold up. I can get the tiles for about $450, compared to $300 for epoxy coat.

If you really want a good wood coating, spray it with a good Polyurea. It will bond, flex with the wood, and last forever. I have a 60 mil polyurea membrane sample that i had at World of Concrete, nobody could rip it, went through thousands of hands. Cool stuff, but that is a little overboard, and pricey :D

Canada, eh?
I had Arizona epoxy installed my attached garage and the installer specifically said the epoxy would stick to any wood except pressure treated.

Vince,
I haven't put anything down yet, I'm still finishing the drywall. I'm really thinking about putting the Commercial Vinyl Composition Tiles down in a black and white checkerboard pattern.
