Christine, I was reading one of the posts and the person was saying they were sorry they hadn't used a respirator when using the epoxy coat because afterwards they had a sore throat and also the fumes were strong for a few days after appling the coating. I thought Epoxy coat was a low odor product. Can you shed some light on this? I am getting close to pulling the plug and purchasing a couple of kits. Thanks, Frank

It the acid wash that will get to you. I did this last fall. Has the big door open, the side door open and a window.

Mrobins, It was in Max thrusts comments on his 600 sq ft in phoenix that I happened to catch the info regarding the use of a respirator. I won't be using the acid wash, because I already have epoxy down that has lasted 24 years. I sanded the floor with 100 grit paper and a pole sander to give it a profile so the epoxy will bond. I am hoping that it doesn't have the strong odor, I went thru that once before and almost drove the family out of the house plus I had headaches for about 3 days. Frank

Hi Frank, the epoxy has very little odor. The acid and the polyurea are the products that smell bad. I would recommend a respirator for those two items.
