Epoxy-Coat shelf life.

Any idea on the shelf life of the Epoxy-Coat product. I have enough to do the floor in my trailer but want to make sure that after sitting on the shelf for 4 years that it's still good. I checked the product and everything looks good. I have both color and clear.

The only potential issue would be crystallization. This can be reversed if it occurred.

Mix up a small amount using Dixie Cups or any small measuring container at the stated mix ratio which we believe is 2:1. If it cures/hardens you should be fine. We always say test-test-test in situations like this to be sure.

Take a stir stick and mix the entire can. If there are chunks that have solidified at the bottom of the can that is a good indicator the epoxy is past its shelf life.

Will it still mix and cure? Possibly.

If the product has crystallized due to cold temps like Scotty has mentioned, carefully and safely heat the cans to a temp of 100-120 degrees F until the crystals have dissolved back into liquid form. The double boiler method works well for this. Be sure to have adequate ventilation

To add to what Benwah said...

You can place the A (A will crystallize) into a steam pan, pour boiling water around it and stir slowly.

I have taken old material (4 years old), back to perfectly usable with no issues. This material was a solid BRICK.

Thanks everyone. I was thinking that the best thing to do was mix up a small batch and try it. I'll check tonight to see if Part A has crystallized.
