I am planning on epoxying my floor in the next month using one of these products. I have a 3-car garage that is approximately 750 square feet. I will diamond-gind the floor before the application ($130 rental). It appears that Expoxy-Coat is twice the price as Rustoleum (I am willing to pay the additional amount if necessary, but don't want to spend it if unnessary). I will park cars with hot tires in the garage on a daily basis, and my primary concern is that the epoxy not lift off. I am looking for opinions and recommendations pertaining to both of these products. Also, I am looking for opinions as to whether or not to apply a clear coat for either of these products, and if so, which one. Thanks

I've read previous posts which said to stay away from the Rustoleum...but I just went to see my buddies garage who used the Rustoleum and he's never had a problem.His floor is over 10 years old and he even has a hot tub on the epoxy...I'm gonna give it a try myself..Good Luck

Professional can be bought at Menards here. It is also called industrial. It is NOT water based and costs about $40 more than the reg garage kit. I didnt diamond grind but I did use a stone grinder (had to rent one) to avoid the use of acid and LOTS of other prep work ... cleaning, degreasing, power washing, mopping etc....
Spend the money and get the Epoxy-Coat. I've used it on 3 applications. Never had an issue. Do it right the first time. Don't cheese out and have regrets.
+1...do it right the first time. if you have to do it again it'll be more work to scrape/grind the old finish off.
Actually, I ended us choosing another option altogether, the Devoe Devran 224HS. It has good reviews and I can apply two coats for less $ than 1 coat of Epoxy-Coat. Plan on installing it this weekend.

Rustoleum worked great for me. Make sure to get the professional and I would top coat it with the clear....

Rustoleum's "Professional" branded floor coating available at retail is solvent based and 82.5% - 84.7% solids by weight.

I can not speak to truly "professional" products that Rustoleum may have available to contractors. I know you had a contractor install your beautiful floor and they may have used a 100% solids product, but I don't believe that's what Timm129 was referring to.
What sort of preparation is required for a new floor if I want to epoxy it? Do I need to diamond-grind it?
