Hi all,

Just got two houses, so I have two two-car garages to think about applying garage flooring material.

I would appreciate advice and constructive comments, from anyone who has experience with any, some, or all of the following products, vis-a-vis product durability, customer service, packaging etc.

ArmorPoxy
Armor Garage
Roll on Rock
or any others anyone care to comment about

Thanks! I figured the comments on this forum are more dependable than the star rating given by some folks on Google.

ArmorPoxy is a forum member with a strong history of supporting their clients. Legacy industrial is another. Keep in mind all of us has different types of coatings. Your best bet is to start making some phone calls and talk to the various vendors. Let them know about your project so they can make an educated recommendation and you can make an educated decision

I just used the Armor Poxy kit on my garage floor. I have done 6 total floors now, but this was my first using Armor Poxy. I really liked the kit (600sf kit, used 2) as it comes with everything you need. I did have a question since it was a new pour and contacted them by email. I got a response back by the next day telling me how to proceed (concrete guy put a sealer on concrete after telling him not to, he claimed it would be fine for coating)

Now this advise goes for any type of epoxy coating, even if you get a kit. I would buy extra buckets, roller covers and chip brushes. I did and am glad I did.

But again, no matter the brand, follow the instructions, and prep is the key to a good coating lasting for a long time.

We SO agree! Please always follow the instructions. We have modified them probably over 100 times based on customer issues from the field. 99% of the time when there are problems, it comes from not following directions.

LOL professional painters are the worse as they think they know everything so they never read the instructions we find.

I used armorpoxy a year ago and the floor looks fantastic. I used the kit that has a 2 part epoxy primer, a 2 part color coat and the 2 part Military epoxy clear coat. And I bought at a discount during a November sale in 2016 and even got a good price. I'll endorse using Armorpoxy.

Is your floor a working-shop floor? How does the surface stand up to jack wheels and jack stands. How about wear on high-shoe-traffic areas?

What did you have to do since it had the sealer put on it?

My shop will be a working garage/shop. But I have not had anything on it yet since I just recently coated the floor. But I can tell you that out of the 5 other floors I have done, they have held up well under use. On mine, I opted for the clear coat as an additional layer of protection. But considering how rock hard in the buckets the epoxy got, I am sure it will hold up very well on its own.

To get rid of the sealer, I rented a floor prep disc and floor buffing machine from Home Depot to grind the surface of the concrete there by getting rid of the sealer. I then also used the acid etch afterwards to get rid of any residual sealer or unground surface of concrete. I also used a pressure washer during both steps to remove the concrete and aid in etching the surface. When applying the coating with the squeegee, I could tell right away that it was going to bond very well. This was my second floor that I had to grind. The first one was due to it being a model home and they had glued hardwood floor as samples over the garage floor and thats how I removed the adhesive.

How did you resolve the issue with the sealer? Grinding?
