Epoxy Coating My Floor - New Tool

I've got a 5000sq garage that I want to cover the floor with epoxy. I haven't done this before so I was looking for a way to guarantee the mil coverage because I drive tractors on it. I was looking online and I saw a squeegee that promises perfect mil thickness: . Has anyone seen or used this product?

5000 of epoxy? Wow. Those do work but problem is it will be all caked up after your first few sections. You will need a lot of them. Honestly all you need is a small squeegee like eight inch. That and some people to help and it will work. That’s a huge area to do but I did my 1000 sq ft myself. I think a good topcoat will be important for toughness

We use rubber notched squeegees to achieve desired mil thickness. They work great.

V notch disposable squeegees are the way to go.

A better way to make sure you are getting the proper thickness is to calculate the amount of material you need and apply it systematically.

For example, say you have 5000 sq feet and you need 50 gals to achieve your thickness, that's 100 sq ft per gal. Now mark off with spray marks 50 10 x 10 squares on the floor. Then just make sure you use a gallon in each square and you're all set!

Trying to achieve a particular mil thickness with a tool is almost impossible due to surface irregularities and such.

See this chart to calculate gallonage based on solids content. Higher solids=lower coverage per gal=thicker floor.

I would only add that we typically add 8-10% to compensate for waste.
