Epoxy-Coating this Saturday!!

After reading all of your posts for the past few months I am finally ready to apply Epoxy-Coat (bought at Lowes) to my garage floor. It took me two months to get the garage floor to stop repelling water. I almost gave up. No offence Epoxy-Coat but my floor laughed at the cleaner/etcher provided in the kit. I tried a strong scrub with TSP & Simple Green. I Pressure washed & rinsed after each. Neither of the degreasers worked. I tried a propane torch which helped in a few spots. My last attempt was scrubbing w/gallons of acetone followed by a serious (unsafe) acid etching. I Neutralized the acid & after multiple rinses the floor finally stopped repelling. Before & after photos will follow next week. Thank you all for your priceless contributions on this subject.

Thanks Christine. My slab is 22 yrs old and it has very few blem marks in it. I never though I would get it as clean as I did. I see alot of slabs, new & old in my line of work and when it finally came out looking like a new slab. I knew I was through.

I'm finished, well almost. First let me tell you I ran into a first timers snag. Don't let it happen to you. I had a 3' strip in front of one of the doors to go & mixed a small batch to finish. I poured the mix on the slab then turned to set the bucket down. By the time I had picked up the squeegee & hit the mix it had already hardened & all I could raked up were globs. I will to let it cure then grind/peel/jack hammer or wahever to get it up & finish this small area. What happened was I got in such a zone that I wasn't payng attention to the sun which was shining on that one strip. It was about 90 degrees at that point & the slab was quite hot in that spot. When the mix hit it well you know the rest. Other than this mishap I'm tickeled with the job & the Epoxy-Coat product. Beware the Sun! This is my first attemt to post photos so here we go.

I think it looks great. Just wondering did you add clear or is that just the epoxy?

That is just one coat & I am very satisfied with the wet looking shine. I think I will quit while ahead. That is after I fix my mistake.

I looks great!! So, how long did the complete Epoxy-Coat job take? Not including the concrete prep.

From start to mistake which was almost finished about 2 1/2 hours working by myself. I panicked when the first batch hit the floor & thought what have I gotten myself into. After spreading & rolling the first batch I flew through the rest. I did 1/2 galllon to quart part A/B size batches. The last batch that bit me was a smaller quart to pint A/B batch.

I'm all set to do mine but the weather is awful. maybe tomorrow or monday

I completed 700sqft and there is another 200sqft farther back that is stuffed with all the tools, benches, the wifes old Indian 50 she's had since she was 5, etc... We dont thow anything away.
