Epoxy finish at garage door

What have people done for finishing an epoxy finish near the garage door.

- Do you extend the epoxy outside to the end of the garage concrete slab? This will leave some epoxy exposed to the elements

- Do you tape off at the garage door line? Does that look funny when the garage door is up?

- Do you tape off and then add a rubber weatherstrip on the concrete?

Any other suggestions?

Have looked at many pictures and almost everyone has tapped off exactly under the door seal when the door is closed. I have only seen a few that went outside the door and when the door was closed it looked wierd outside. We have an odd issue when the door is closed the concrete expansion joint was poured at an angle to the door and makes it all look sloppy. We are going to saw up a section and redo the lines so it will all look correct. Lot of work but want to enjoy and not say there is an issue over here to everyone that looks at it.

Im trying to figure this out also. I plan to epoxy my garage this weekend. By taping off under the door seal, wouldent that leave a "weak spot" for the epoxy to start pealing or flaking??

You should know that chances are, your epoxy is aromatic, meaning it is not UV stable and will fade and/or yellow. You might not want epoxy that fades outside the garage. However, there are UV stable epoxy products (aliphatic), so you should check to see if your epoxy is UV stable or not.
