Epoxy flakes topped with clear on old concrete???

I was wondering if there's a basic system or products out there that I can lightly grind my 50 year old garage floor, squeege out a thin coat of clear, broadcast flakes into it and then clearcoat a topping...a couple hundred bucks maybe and a floor that looks a million times better. Anyone know of this?

Nope.... at least not something that will last a few months. I think Lowes sell some really cheap **** that doesn't include a top coat that will peal up really quick. For a couple hundred bucks it would be better for you to just save your money till you can afford a decent product. (I'm sure someone will sell you something) gene ec-Indy

Got any pictures of your existing floor? The bulk of the work is getting the old surface ready to accept a new one. I'm sure some people would be willing to comment on what is involved if they can estimate the condition of the floor by looking at some good photos. Once you do the prep, you can certainly get a quality kit for "a couple hundred bucks" (depending on how that is defined.)

If you're on a budget consider what I did, I have only $400.00 total in the floor of my 780 SF garage, it's been down 1 1/2 years now and no problems with the product. See installation thread with photos:

I was just wondering cause I saw a bag of flakes at HD and I'm thinking just to broadcast these out and put clear over them.

Paul:

If you want to go full chip, use a pigmented primer (100% Solids), broadcast your flakes into it and then clear coat over.

If you are on a budget this is not the "budget route" as it takes a ton of chips to accomplish correctly.
