Hi All,
New hear but have been reading a bunch for the past 3-4 weeks. I have a 12 year old garage floor that is in pretty good shape. Looking for some expert advice regarding the 'epoxy" floor coating I want to put in and would appreciate some of your help and suggestions on the following:

1) Contractor uses Sherwin Williams Resuprime MVT for moisture barrier and GP 4850 for base and top coat with full flake in between. Any experience or thoughts on these?
2) Garage has 14" stem walls. I like the idea of having this match the floor but have read mixed reviews on this.
3) Expansion joints on 3 walls have a 1/2" fiber filler. What's the best way to deal with this?
4) Contractor suggested taking the epoxy and flakes on to the 6" lip outside the garage doors. Seems this may look odd with blacktop driveway. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

New here myself and thought I would let you know what we just had done.

1. Can’t help you with that
2. We had them do the stem walls(contractor said it was strictly decorative when I asked if they would be grinding them in preparation). Glad we had them done.
3. They caulked the expansion joints that met the floor and stem walls before doing epoxy and protective coat.
4. We had them stop epoxy where the inside edge of garage door come down. My guy said most of his customers choose that way. Again, looks good and we are glad we chose that option.
Hope yours turns out well.

Thank you bshan! How tall are your stem walls? Also, do you know what they used for caulking the expansion joint? Thanks again!

geneworldwide...stem walls vary from 5"-6" high and 4" wide. Don't know what they used for caulking, but after the epoxy, flakes and top coat was applied, it has a "seamless" look.

geneworldwide.... to answer your first question, I just checked my invoice. The contractor first diamond ground the floor, applied a commercial grade epoxy(I think from manufacturer, FX Epoxy), and then applied a commercial grade Polyaspartic clear coat.
Hope that helps.
