so i just got my epoxy floor "professionally" installed about a month ago. it looks amazing! it's a tan color w/ black and white flecks. not sure on the brand, but the finish has almost a glossy-wet look. i'd like to know how to maintain this finish (i.e. what cleaners to use or stay away from, etc.). thanks in advance!

Why wouldn't you ask your vendor?

I powerwash mine every now and then. My brother accidentally left an old wet metal bucket on the floor; the rust stain on top of the epoxy came off with a damp paper towel. It was like taking dry-erase marker off a dry-erase board. My point is I don't think you'll need anything beyond water and maybe some degreaser. Of course, don't let spilled brake fluid sit on it.

Hey - post us some pictures!

One of the benefits of a good epoxy floor is that it's low maintenance and easy to clean! Chemicals and other spilled and dropped materials should just wipe right off. Any good general household cleaning agent will work, 409, Simple Green, they all do the trick.

I usually use those blue paper shop towels on the end of an old broom, works great.

I use Simple Green or brake clean for oil spills and such, just a wet mop for dirt control. Otherwise, I use a nice wide sweeper I found at Sams for cheap. I'm not real big on spiffy, too much stuff in here to get in tidy up mode. If I feel the need to mop something, I go mop the kitchen. This is stuff I bought at Lowes years ago, don't remember the brand. But I could pour on mineral spirits and mop the floor - it wouldn't hurt it a bit.

I use simple green and a mop. The other day my truck brake line blew out on the way home at a red light with ABS on in the rain no less. That was very scary. Ended up stopping in the middle of the intersection. Well I pulled in the garage and had a brake fluid trail as I was stopping and had a little spot after I stopped. I wiped up the spot with a dry rag and decided to mop up the trail with simple green and a mop and for some reason were I mopped it left it discolored. Not realy bad but noticable. Its a working garage thou.

Broom of leaf blower if I'm in a hurry for dirt and dust on occassion.

Simple Green, a mop, and a squeegee several times a year and every chance I get in the winter.

Floor looks good after 3+ years of being installed except two chips.

Do you guys wax it? Did you was it when it was brand new or did the contractor?

I recently did my own and can't find any info on what kind of wax to use on the surface to help build up protective layers. I can find lots of vague info saying the floors need waxed but nothing suggesting a particular product.
