Epoxy Floor Coating over Concrete Stained Floor

Wanted to consider redoing the garage floor with Epoxy, but I am concerned about what to do for prep.
My floors are 15 years old and I have been using a concrete floor stain product on them for more than 10 years. About every 2 years do a heavy pressure washing and apply another "coat" of Behr Concrete Stain.

Do I need to strip all of this off to do an Epoxy floor coating, or will the typical floor prep routine be sufficent?

Yes it is a "paint". Waterbase concrete stain.
It hold up fairly well for a couple of years, except tire areas begin to wear faster.
For 30 bucks and 2 hours of my time I have just recoated it every 2 years.

Is there a chemical strip that will remove it.

I assume an 18" orbital floor sander will not work well enough.

Is a floor grinder the best option?
What to do with the tight corners and such?

thanks for the info.
