After we installed an epoxy floor some years ago, I decided I would not treat it differently from the cement garage floor I had in my old garage. I rolled jacks around and set up axle stands on it directly. Will it scratch, yes. If the stands have sharp corners, it can cut into the epoxy too. A dropped hammer might chip it. Even chairs moved around by someone sitting in them leave fine scratches.
The good thing is that I can wet sand the epoxy and most of the scratches come out. The deep ones remain. The chips I fill in with paint then wet sand. The floor is due for a major sanding shortly; I am not sure if I can recover the old gloss.
A solution: I have a large jack made in Europe that came with a rubber O-ring in a groove cut into each caster. When the unloaded jack rolls on the floor, only the rubber rings contact the floor. When the jack is loaded, the rings compress and the metal casters take the weight.
The verdict is that epoxy is as durable as most surfaces. A viable alternative seems to be porcelein or ceramic tile.
