Hi there,

I am looking into getting an epoxy floor for my 1 car garage. Does anyone approximate costs on how much it might be? Also, does anyone know any good installers in the Bay Area?

200 ft2 would require .75 gallons of BondTite 1101 for primer, 1.5 gallons of LiquaTile 1184 for base coat, and either .75 gallons of BondTite for clear coat, or .625 gallons of EnduraShield 2254 for clear coat. The BondTite options is $300 (24.06 mils depth cured), the EnduraShield finish (22.5 mils cured) would be $341 total.

Cured depths don't factor in waste, which is usually about 10%.

It's a bit more per ft2 than usual because the 3 quart kits are priced the same as 1 gallon in the 3 gallon kits, packaging, economy of scale, and all that.

What is the difference between the 2 clear coatings? Which would you recommend for specific scenario's?

How would an install like this take including prep work? Is it something that is DIY, or would it better or faster to have a professional install it? Who would you recommend as an installer in the South Bay Area?

Thanks for the help!

The EnduraShield is UV resistant, you can coat a sidewalk in Phoenix with it. It is also harder than the BondTite, although the difference probably won't be noticed in most applications. Another benefit is that it's crystal clear, and very glossy. It's hardness feels to hard for some folks, who prefer the relatively softer texture of the BondTite.

A pro will probably be faster, but I wouldn't say better. We have quite a few clients on this forum alone who have done jobs that would beat most pro installations. Depends on if you have the time and inclination to DIY or not.

I'll PM you contact info for a SoBay contractor.
