I was at a flea market and picked up 2 gal of Rustolum Epoxy floor paint (water based I think, not two part) for $10. I just couldn't resist. Really didn't give much thought what I would use it for. I have a cargo container storage box. It could use a new coat of paint on the roof. How would this hold up and would I have to prime it first?. I have used latex base paints on out side metal before and always had problems with rust showing through right away unless painting over areas where there was no rust. Another use. I have a septic pumper truck and the inside of the trays that hold the hoses really take a beating from throwing hoses on and the acid. I am in the process of painting them now. I took a air blow gun and believe it or not 90% of the paint just lifted up and flew off. I scraped and sanded the rest off to bare metal. (must have been bad paint or not prepped right when installed 2 years ago. I already have the paint and plan on using a roller and applying 2 coats of Rustolum rusty primer and two coats of smoke grey Rustoleum paint. How would it work if after doing this if I put a coat of the epoxy floor paint on top of the other paint.. I want something that will hold up to the moisture and washing it down and acid from the septage.

the paint is only as good as the prep, and putting it on top of any other coating is likely not going to hold up.

You might pose these questions to rust-oleum, as I would not do all the prep and labor, on the hope that this paint will hold up, anywhere except a light use, well prepped floor.

Let us know how it works.
