Epoxy floor probs

Hi all,
New member first time poster.
I recently had an epoxy floor put down in my garage. The material the company used was made by Florock. After waiting the suggested time, 5 days not opening the garage doors, I open it up and was surprised to find the Dark Side of the Moon, craters and all. I've attached 3 pics (hopefully) although they seem a bit small, but I think you'll get the idea. Overall, the floor looks nice. They are coming out Thursday afternoon to take a look but I thought I'd get some opinions first. I was told on the phone that it may be from excessive moisture in the concrete floor. That said, how can this be fixed.
Thanks!

How did they prep the floor? Where on the floor are these located approximately?

Hi Shea,
Well unfortunately I wasn't there for most of the install. I do know they repaired some cracks, filled in areas where the concrete deteriorated, ground the concrete floor and put a, what I would call a skim coat of concrete (or something) that smoothed things out. Wish I was more knowledgeable. I do have some prep pics I will post when I get home from work.
The location is about 10-12 feet in from the outside door, just under where the front seats would in a car.

Could possibly be a moisture issue. Would need to remove the entire floor, prep by shot blasting or grinding, install a vapor mitigating coating, then recoat.

But..if/when they remove the floor have them do a moisture test and also do the 'plastic sheet test' which is referenced on GJ often.

3.4, There was no rain at all during the install. However, it rained 1 night during the process. Some water did seep thru the bottom of the rubber garage door seal, maybe 1 foot in from the outside of the door on the opposite side of the affected area, maybe 1 foot square total. The guys noticed this the next morning and when they were done with that days work, covered the first foot or so with plastic along the entire door...just in case.
Legacy, You kind of touched on if/what could be done to fix the floor. So you're saying to grind it down, re-epoxy, put some new color in, etc? I don't see the need for a redo if it can be fixed and look reasonable.
Also, you can tap on the craters with you finger nail and see that most of them have a hollow sound. (whatever that could mean)
I have attached 4 new pics of the same area in different stages of progress. I have read on GF that some use a primer, don't know if that did/didn't not happen.
Thanks guys.

Hi all,

I wanted to update my flooring issues.
The company that installed it grindded flat the problem mountains, redid the epoxy and the finished product are the pics attached. I was charges $120 as they said it had to do with moisture in the floor and not an installation or product prob. (no moisture readings were ever taken).
So pics 2 and 3 show the finished repair. Quite shiny compared to the original. It's as thought you painted a wall with flat paint then painted a 2x6 section on top of it with gloss paint. I think it looks lousy. So the question is why did it come out completely different? FWIW, it was a different crew that did the service. It's been a week now and I have yet to contact them. What are your thoughts?

Thanks so much!

It's great that the repairs have been made. However, I would have expected them to (or at least discussed it) place a fresh clear coat over the entire floor to help hide the repairs.

Grind the areas affected and patch it in. If it repeats then there might be an issue.

One additional approach I will add to these suggestions. Grind the affected area, perform a moisture test. If negative, prime and re-coat. If positive..... You'll either need to follow Armorpoxy's solution or live with it.

Keep in mind, moisture under a slab is absolutely an intermittent event.

It is tough to detect and even the best installer may miss it. If you have any indication that moisture may be present...

Low lying area
High water table
Poor drainage
Efflorescence present

You need to apply a Moisture Vapor Barrier before your epoxy.
We have one of the best in our Aqua-Dike. There are others out there.

Thanks for all your comments. But my question remains, does anyone know why I now have a gloss floor (the repaired section) surrounded by the original? Are there different finishes available, maybe the service crew put on a different than the original? Guys I'm stumped.
