Hey guys,

Got a question I couldn't find while doing a search here so here it goes.

Just bought a house and the previous owner had done a epoxy floor, looks like many years ago and for the most part it is in good shape but then someone glued some carpet down in the center of the floor and when I got it up the are some worn through spots and some spots where getting the glue off messed up the epoxy too...how do I fix this? Can I sand/scuff the floor and reapply a new coat to the whole floor? Do I have to remove all the old epoxy first?(not even sure that is possible...

Any thoughts or tips?

Thanks!

If the existing epoxy is not coming up you can degloss it with a sander. Either a vibrating parquet type sander or with a floor buffer with a sand paper attachment. Vacuum well, do a final clean (I like denatured alcohol with a micro fiber mop) then apply your new epoxy.

It is possible to remove the existing epoxy, do it all the time. You need the correct equipment to do so. I always remove before I apply my products... I then KNOW it won't go anywhere. Leaving on what's there puts a doubt in the soup.
