I just completed my Garage. After pulling up the ram board I'm not to happy with the way the power trolled floor turned out. Too many swirls and there are some lines / curing mark where the tape was.

Now I'm looking at epoxying the floor. A had a company that came out, which was recommended by a few friends who had their garages done by this company. They are telling me that since my concrete is new and clean they can just use a a penetrating primer and skip etching and/or grinding the floor.

Are they pulling a fast one on me? Every resource I found on the internet on this issue seems to recommend grinding or at least acid etching.

Hi
Our opinion is "Run Forest, run". Anyone that doesn't want to prep should be avoided at all costs.

I had a floor coated in a new house a few years back with Arizona Polymer Flooring Granitex. I spoke to the manufacturer and asked if any of the prep could be eliminated since the house was new and the garage floor never driven on. Short answer....no way. It had to be ground, etched and prepped just as any older floor.

Given the cost of installing a new floor coating, and the expectations I had for longevity, I didn't want to risk durability to save a few dollars.
