Epoxy floor without vapor barrier

Has anyone had a good long lasting experience with an epoxy floor without a vapor barrier under the concrete slab?
I've been bothered for the last 5 weeks after I had a new concrete slab poured in my garage without a vapor barrier. I wish I'd done some research before the pour. My garage though is attached to my house. Its a split level house with a basement next to the garage that is lower than the garage floor. The garage is on foundation footings. I've never seen water or dampness in the garage. The exterior of my house has a good pitch going away for any water runoff. I've done the test with the 2' plastic taped on the floor with no signs of moisture. I feel comfortable that moisture won't be a problem but I worry about those freak storms that dump a ton of rain every once in awhile. I guess its a gamble without a vapor barrier but how have other people done without one?

Was there a substantial stone base installed? If not, what is under the concrete?

You may also want to check other areas of the floor with the plastic bag test when it rains. Let it sit for at least a day.

I'm going to be doing my attached garage floor (no vapor barrier) in the Fall. I haven't test the floor yet...

I made the big mistake of not being there when they poured my new addition and found out too late that there is no vapor barrier under mine either. The original floor that is next to it is about 45 years old and I don't think there is one under it either and I've had epoxy down on it for 8-10 years with no problems. My house is also a split level like yours and the new floor is very dry.

I'm going ahead and coating mine and just gonna keep my fingers crossed. As long as the plastic test show OK, you should be fine.

I have no vapor barrier and I've had no epoxy problems since I put the epoxy (epoxy-coat) down in May 2006. My site has sandy soil that has very little moisture. I leveled the garage area, put about 3" of stone and a 5" slab with wire mesh.

The crew that poured my floor did the vapor barrier but was a bit short around the perimeter which gave me the same concerns having the epoxy lift. I found an epoxy system from SUPERCOAT that allows the slab to breath thus eliminates the vapor issues... so they say?? I decided to go with the motofloor just to be safe.

SUPERCOAT's "WET" Chemistry enables the epoxy coating to "breathe", allowing moisture to pass through rather than becoming trapped. No More Blistering and Peeling!
