epoxy floor

Hello, I had my garage floor epoxied a year ago and it is great. I just built a new rv/garage 46 x 46 and was thinking of doing this floor myself. the guy that did mine did a great job, but being a dyf person i would like to do my own. I have read and watched when my other garage floor was done. with a new garage floor nothing ever being stored in it yet what do I need to do to the floor if anything? Also I want a good product to apply any suggestions? my other floor has flakes in it and want to do it the same. I do not know what the guy used on that floor.

Do some searching and you will find plenty of information. There are some great vendors on the forum Alpha Garage, Legacy Industrial, Garage Coatings LLC and several more that can answer all your questions. You will need to wait about a month, to let the concrete properly cure, before you do anything to the floor. Almost 2200 sqft will not be inexpensive to do. I think you could just etch the floor and then start with your coatings. You will need a good primer, base coat for the flakes and then a good clear top coat.

Wait 28 days, and then profile. To profile you can use chemicals or mechanical grinding, most of our pro contractors will grind, but most of our DIY clients acid etch. Search here for "Wolverine" and you'll see DIY clients that have used the industrial grinders, and a few who have just used hand angle grinders with a diamond cup attachment, takes longer but get the job done . The critical part of chemically etching is to make sure to neutralize any of the remaining acid.

After that you'll be good to go with your coatings.
