I've pretty much decided to put epoxy on the floor of my garage which was built this summer. I tend to do most everything that I can myself, but after reading some of the horror stories about epoxy flooring jobs gone wrong Ive been thinking about paying someone to install it for me.

I may just tackle it myself and hope for the best.

Yes, there are horror stories. Rest assured, they are definitely the minority. Most people have really nice floors with no issues.

If you are laying epoxy over concrete - then you would need to test for moisture. Most concrete retains moisture -a fact that many homeowners do not consider. This accounts for most epoxy floor system failures. Store bought epoxy paint is not maunfactured to create a very thick coating resulting in peeling, chipping and discoloration. A high relative humidity level will make any epoxy floor fail prematurely. Have a professional test your floor for moisture and apply a moisture mitigation primer before installating store bought or commercial grade epoxy from a epoxy flooring contractor in ct or anywhere.
