G'day cobber!
I am also about to put down a coating on the floor in my car hole.
I would suggest going to bunnings. They have a few products to choose from.
Probably the best 'looking' product is the Dulux "Garage Floor Kit". It comes in 2 colours "Slate" (light grey/blue) or "sand". You get a box with a powder you mix with water and sweep over the floor to etch the concrete, and you get the epoxy and the activator and a big enough tin to mix it in. You also get a little packet of grit if you want it to be anti-slip.
It's touted as a high performance epoxy floor coating and will apparently resist hot tyre pick-up, resist stains and is a water based epoxy.
cost is $128 AUD for the kit which is expensive but if it's good I'd say it's worth it.
There is also an optional "decorative kit" to go with the garage floor kit. This decorative kit includes a clear coat and a pack of large decorative flakes to give that granite/stone effect. It will give a really high gloss finish. that kits costs $118 AUD. I guess you could also use it without the flakes for just a high gloss durable finish.
The other gear they had was Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty. which comes in 3 colours, Smoke Grey, Charcoal Grey and I forget the 3rd one. It costs $80 for 4 litres but you don't get the concrete etcher mix which costs $15 for a small container (White Knight brand). You also don't get the non-slip grit additive which Berger sell as "Berger Jet Dry - True Grip", it's another little container of the fine grit and costs $7.50AUD. White Knight sell it too called pave and deck grip for $8AUD per container.
So with the Berger stuff by the time you buy the paint ($80), the concrete etcher ($15) and the Grit ($8) you are up to just over $100. and I'm not sure it gives as good a result as the dulux epoxy.
I'm just about to do mine and think I'll go with the Dulux kit. Not decided yet whether I'll add the 'decorative' kit or not. I don't like the look of all the little black and grey flakes but I do like the idea of another clear coat to really seal it properly. but I might just do the basic expoy kit first and see how that goes.
Coverage wise they state one kit will do a "average" 1 car garage. It's 3.5L + activator so probably about 4L once mixed.
Please post up what you decide to go with and where you get it from. I'm going to be doing mine in about 2 weeks time and will let you know what I go with and where I buy it too.
