Hi everyone,
I'm about to pull the trigger on an epoxy system for my 2 car garage (24' x 26'). Will mostly be used for woodworking, general mechanical work, and parking vehicles. Leaning towards an epoxy and flake system with a urethane topcoat. I was pretty much set on Legacy Industrial, but I've tried contacting them a few times to make sure the order I have planned out is correct, and no one is bothering to get back to me. Emailed them twice in the last month as well as PM'd them through GJ with no response. I've heard nothing but great things about their customer service and product but I'm not having any luck with them so I'm open to other suppliers...any suggestions?

I'm located in Alberta, Canada so I'll need to factor shipping into account when making an order.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I had amazing results this weekend installing the Roll-on-Rock kit (epoxy + flake + 2 clear coats) from www.garagecoatings.com.

I did a diamond grind with a 7" grinder + diamond cup + dust shield, then 4195 grey epoxy (2 gal) + 1/16" flake (75lb), then the 5205 flake sealer / 1st clear coat (3 gal), then the 5197 polyaspartic top coat (2 gal). The epoxy/flake was done on day 1, and the clear coats on day 2. I probably spent my evenings for a whole week prior grinding/patching cracks/vacuuming.

Lessons learned:
- One of the hardest DIY jobs I've ever done.
- Definitely needs two people for a 450sqft garage, especially for cutting in the borders/footings. The field can be rolled by 1 person if necessary.
- The 1/16" flake is too small for my liking. I wouldn't go smaller than 1/8" next time. Also with 1/8" flake, I think I could have got by with 50lb instead of 75lb and perhaps a gallon less of the 1st clear coat.
- The flake covers most if not all minor imperfections in the concrete. Focus on big stuff like cracks and holes.
- Grinding with a 7" angle grinder is back breaking work, I should have rented a machine I could walk and then got a 4" grinder to do the sides.
- Wear a particulate respirator when grinding and an organic vapour respirator when coating. If using a 7" grinder, make sure to use a dust shield too!
- These materials are no joke. They are nothing like Home Depot garbage. The short pot life is very real. It's crazy to watch something go from a water-like consistency to rock hard in 30 minutes. Follow the instructions to the letter and watch as many youtube videos as you can.
- Doing a crappy job on the edges/wall transitions knowingly and planning to touch them up later is a bad strategy and a typical DIY mistake. I'm sure I'll spend 10 times as much time cleaning it up and fixing it later in the week.

I'm in Ottawa, Canada and they provided free shipping with Fedex Ground and shipped the order within 24 hours of being placed. I suspect I'll get a letter from Fedex in a month or two for customs/duties but frankly that's a small price to pay and to be expected. I'm really happy with the process, product, and result. The key here is obviously longevity. I'll provide an update after a few years of Canadian winters :)

The floor looks great. Good Job! The Roll-on-Rock kit by Garage Coatings is a popular kit.

Thanks for checking Scotty. I double checked my spam folder and there wasn't a reply from you guys hidden in there so who knows what happened with my emails.
Did you get my PM from last week?

Our Military Grade Topcoat is a super heavy duty 2 part topcoat that we designed to sell to the Air Force and other government agencies for use in their heavy usage facilities. We now package it in smaller quantities for residential use.
