I am considering using a solvent-based epoxy for my garage floors and wanted to make a simple border using tape. Can you guys jump in here with specific details on how I can use either green or blue tape to seperate colors for borders in a two-color idea? I am thinking of using red as my main color and black on the outside area for a three-car garage space and using a roller as my applicator? I am not sure how accurate I can be placing tape in a straight line (other than using a chalk line). Any suggestions out there?

Welcome to the site.

It would help to know what product specifically you plan to use. When I did my floor with Rust Oleum Pro 3 years ago, blue masking tape was a nightmare to try to peel up along the overhead door and exposed foundation edge after the epoxy set and cured over it. After I was done, someone mentioned that duct tape is better for masking off edges on epoxy floors.

A laser level that shoots a straight vertical line would help in layout. Another option would be to use a simple string line (no chalk) as a guide and set the tape according to it.

If it were me, I'd do all of the red first and then go back and do the black over it to make the border so you don't have to worry about missing small pieces altogether.
