Has anyone ever had their countertops done with "Floor" epoxy? My Mom just had her KITCHEN counters done and it's INCREDIBLE. They feel like Granite, they can do ANY color, takes about 6 hours from prep to cleanup and would be durable as hell!
I'm thinking now of doing some of my workbenches when I do my floors. As well, why not apply the epoxy part way up the wall? Talk about a durable, scratch/dent/water resistant coating!
It's a business they are doing here - so of course I was thinking of all you handy, yet currently unemployed guys out there!! Minimal tool outlay, minimal material cost, etc.
Here's the process if you're interested: After removing ALL the appliances and covering EVERYTHING else with plastic, they opened the windows and set up a fan to get a cross-flow air pattern (like a paint booth). They sanded the arbourite lightly, then coated the counters with the epoxy. As it set up they sprayed another paint in a spatter-pattern to emulate a granite look. Aftert that dried they put on a sealer. Final touch was a nice silicone edge against the backsplash and around the sink. Whala - beautiful! Another happy old lady
