Epoxy or tile?

I'm planning on updating the flooring in my 3-car garage. After reading numerous posts here about epoxy and also seeing some floors completed with tile, I'm kinda torn.

I like the simplicity (relatively) that comes with the epoxy flooring, but also like what I've seen done with tile floors (J. Olsen's garage) and the durability that he's gotten from his floor.

Ideas, either for or against either?

Well to be honest that would depend on your need of the floor. What is your over all purpose of the garage?

I do light duty maintenance on my vehicles primarily. Sometimes I may need to pull an engine or ******. Minor wood working also.

Consider the epoxy, then. The though of rolling floor jacks or an engine hoist / stand loaded with a heavy engine over the tile joints does not sound appealing. It might make for rough moving as the wheels of equipment catch or jolt on the tile joints. Then, too, I'd be concerned about too much concentrated load fracturing a tile if I didn't set it propertly. Not to mention cost. Also, those tile joints are good places for dirt and debris to accumulate, making it harder to clean the floor.

However, if you were largely interested in a display garage and weren't doing much work in then then the tile looks great.
