As I get ready to start looking into my garage build flooring is an initial concern as I plan to have it built and finished before the house is finished. I have hightly considered epoxy flooring but have hear my fair share of horror stories. I see this type of floor all the time in industrail setting snad it is some really tough stuff.

What I want is a florr that you could mop if need be and can be wiped clean. So I'm guessing epoxy is the primary choice here.

So what does it take to do it right? What is the best product, what will mess it up if you get it on there (solvents, brake fluid).

If it is a new floor slab with no grease etc on it just an acid etch will do it. i just did my new slab with 100% solids epoxy and it came out great! Be sure to wait at least 30 days or/and do a moisture test.

Have you read ANY of the well documented, successful epoxy threads here?

Oh, yes. I've been on here reading for a year or more. Like I've said I've seen several really nice and durable floors and have seen the success stories on here. I have seen some bad ones too.

Have you done this? Do you have a thread about your experience? What did you use?

The thirty day wait is something I hadn't thought of. Building new and want to do floor before I move my stuff in. Will check out the stain option

Where would I start with a new pour as I am going to be building a new place?

Another question. I have some bad oily areas in my current garage, what would I need to do to epoxy a well used concrete floor.

New place:
Grind or acid etch the floor to achieve a surface texture that resembles 120 grit sandpaper.

Old place: Degrease the floor until all the oil spots are gone or grind them away.
Same prep as above, acid etch or grind for proper texture.
