Epoxy Paint Help

Hello All,

I know I may not be doing a Garage but a basement floor. I am looking for the best quality epoxy to do. I have looked into U-Coat it and Epoxytech. I am not very knowledgeable in this arena and I am looking for advice and suggestions as to where I can get the products from. I will be doing this work myself as well so any advice is helpful!!!

I live in Dearborn Heights Michigan I am doing my basement ceiling black and the walls a beige color. What other details are needed?

current flooring or is it just concrete...if so condition? Has it ever been painted and so on. Water or damp areas on that concrete?

sq footage, this will tell you whether it is a one man, two man or crew job.

The current Floor is concrete I dont know if it has been treated before it does not look like it. The sq ftg is 1056. I am not sure if there are any damp areas I do know there are a couple cracks and there are 2 drains in the basement one near the washer and dryer and the other is on the other side of the basement.

The stairs are to one side in the middle of the basement with a pantry under it. I dont know if that will make a difference

I will take any suggestions I can get pictures when i get home tonight and show. If you have any other suggestions other than epoxy that would work better let me know that as well. The area is going to be used for entertainment. THere is a pool table and couches on one side and laundry and desk on the other. I want to have it durable and safe. There might even be some wrestling done as well on the floor lol my friends are into MMA lol

at that sq footage, you will need at least one energetic helper, perhaps two. Or do it in sections.

Read up on moisture tests here on this list, as simple as laying out something solid on the floor, leave it a day and see if it is damp on the side nearest the concrete.

I know I have had boxes with books in them on the floor that I just moved and they were not wet

What Would I be looking at price wise as well as prepping of the basement? Is it ok to do in sections?

You would need two Armorclad Master Kits with discount and delivery would be $862.50 for all materials.

For the cracks we would recommend filling those beforehand as they can show though even with a 100% solids coating on the floor. We sell a crack repair epoxy putty for these areas or you can pick up something locally.

And absolutely can be done in sections. Just remember that the Armorclad has about a half hour pot life once mixed so you only want to mix up what you will be using right away.

Is there a guide that can show how that is done by sections? This is a first time for me doing this and I dont want to mess anything up if at all possible. And outside of the cracks what kind of prepwork is needed?

For a basement floor the bare concrete can just be mopped with a mix of TSP cleaner and water for preparation. We do not have am official guide for dividing the areas by section but you would just mix up a portion of the material needed for the area you are doing (we can guide you through this when applying). Then when ready to do the next section you would just go right up to and over the existing line where you had stopped previously.
