I've just finished grinding my floor and patching the cracks with Rust-Oleum EPOXYShield Concrete Patch. I haven't bought a floor system yet as I'm still undecided.

Requirements
  • Light Duty residential garage. I don't plan on doing anything beyond parking my truck, the occasional oil change, and normal DIY projects. I have mats for my vehicles, so I'm less worried about tire pickup.
  • UV exposure. My garage gets a good dose of sunlight in the morning. The previous vinyl tile was yellowed as a result. I'd like something to resist turning yellow
  • Budget-Friendly. I've got a 1,000 sq. ft. garage and I'm trying to not break the bank. $1,000 for a kit isn't in the cards.
  • DIY-friendly. I do a lot of projects myself, but 100% solids resins scare me.

So far I'm leaning towards Rust-Oleum water-based kit due to my above requirements, but I'm open to suggestions. Particularly, what should I be using as a topcoat?

Thanks!

I would encourage you to do some due diligence in regards to researching what products you want to utilze for your 1000 SF garage area. You have a lot of options out there! use the search button and dig in to the forum.

I would encourage you to stay away from "pre packaged" box store garage floor kits?

good luck!
