Epoxy shield

Ok, I know this isn't a preferred product, but I didn't know GJ existed 8 years ago, when I applied it.

Over the years, the epoxy shield is starting to show its age. Can I clean the floor really good, and just go over it again?

For the record, I am not wanting to start a bash session on Epoxy shield. It cost me $300 to do my whole garage. I couldn't find anyone under $1200 to come do it professionally. If I have to redo it every 8 years, I'm ok with that. I keep my garage clean, but my garage is used as a garage, and its held up pretty well IMO.

Do you happen to have any pics of the flooring? I'd be interested to see what it looked like when you first installed it and what it looks like now for a comparison. Thank you in advance.

I can't give you my 'professional' opinion on this, so I will tell you what I would do, if it were my garage. Their installation instructions say it can go over tightly adhering coatings. I would scrape up any material that looks like it might come up. I would take 150 grit sandpaper and rough up the floor. Then I would go right over top.

I would then go over it again with clear coat. I would do this knowing I am hoping for the best.

I know its a **** shoot going over it again. I only have 2 spots where its flaked up, both very small. the concrete was in pretty rough shape, it was at least 20 years old, with no coating on it at all. I just used the acid etch stuff it came with, and scrubbed the **** out of it. Power washed it, and let it dry completely. I doesn't look near as good as my bosses, but again, he hired it done.

sorry I don't have any before pictures, but I will take a couple of it now. Its currently covered in snow/dirt. I hate winter. I plan to redo this in the summer, when its a lot nicer out.
