I'm responding to the invitation to actually post on here for the first time, as I have been stalking the site for ages and I finally registered this morning.
We just bought a ridiculous house (too big, too beautiful, too perfect for us - but hey, we got a great deal) and I feared using the more industrial looking epoxy floor like we put on our other house. So I went with the Rust-O-Leum Epoxy Shield Clear Coat with Stain Additive (rustic brown). It cost $94/kit + $23 stain/kit. We used 3 of them. In retrospect, maybe I should have used the acid stain then put a clear coat sealer on top? What I wanted was a deep down soaking of the stain, but that's not gonna happen on this floor, so I have to hope and pray it sticks good with no hot tire pickup.
The prep work was exhausting, at one point we ended up in a muriatic acid fog. I think I might've gotten high.
The humidity was high and so we were sweating like horses. For prep I used the TSP, then pressure washed, then muriatic acid, pressure washed, then muriatic acid again (stupid stains!) and pressure washed again. Let dry 4 days.
Our concrete, due to all our work, was very porous so it took 3 full kits to do my 530 square foot garage. The results are pretty good, though we'd like to go over the top again with just a clear coat to make up for the areas that didn't get shiny enough. But that'll be another $94. Ugh. Is there something else I can use on top?
Lastly, please help with with deciding on a trim.. the drywall extends out a bit as you can see. I'm considering a tile baseboard, maybe mexican tile? THoughts? The distance from the floor to the drywall varies, but at most is 7.75".
