Epoxy Under Racedeck

I am in the process of planning my garage build for the spring.

I was thinking of using a DIY epoxy flooring then covering it with racedeck flooring. The thought was that it would offer an additional layer of stain protection and slickness for the floor when water and whatever else gets underneath the tiles. Is it a complete waste of money, opinions welcomed

I did it for areas that get more abuse since the epoxy will chip and scratch. I think it does help with liquids draining faster. I have the freeflow tile

How does water shed on your floor now? Do you have a drain? If not, you may be better off not putting down epoxy beforehand. Water caught by the floor will sit longer if it's epoxied and can only dry through evaporation. Particularly if it has any low spots. Bare concrete does a better job of absorbing the water as well as letting it evaporate.

use and internal concrete sealer that leaves nothing on the surface to mess up bonding etc, but greatly reduces the movement of water, oil, stains, etc into the concrete. Essentally they clog up the pore spaces within the concrete and can make floors with too much of a water issue now acceptable for coating.

These sort of products are also used in parking garages where water getting to the rebar could doom the structure but painting the carage is too $$ and then needs upkeep.

I agree with just doing a concrete sealer. This is all you need to keep anything from penetrating. Anything more is a total waste of time and money.
