Epoxy vs Polyurethane Flooring

I have a 5000sqft warehouse which has concrete flooring. It is used to house merchandise. It will have heavy foot traffic in addition to forklifts and pallet jacks. The concrete has cracks and small holes will I will fill. I would like to either do Epoxy or Polyurethane flooring. I'm confused as to what route to go in. I would like to have a thick coating on the floor so it is durable and will last long. I'm very hesitant to get the products from homedepot as they appear to be for residential use only.

5000 sq feet may wear you and a few friends out - just in prep. The the mixing and spreading material. Epoxy would be the only product to hold up to your desires, over the long term.

Multiple thin coats may be best, but ask each of the vendors here for their products' specs. It would be wise to stay away from the box store products, for the best overall experience.

Given the size and scope of the project you may want to get some prices for turnkey/pro installation just so you see the big picture.

As a data point, two of us prepped (with machine) 425 sq feet of new concrete over a long, busy weekend. Another long busy weekend to apply. And that was with an empty garage. Your time may be worth something in the scheme, as well as renting a machine and buying grind wheels. Edging, patching and kickups will take additional time and prep - unless your floor is Zero flat to the edges.

In the mean time, urethane is a common topcoat to epoxy and frankly, in a warehouse application may be a bit overkill.

We have an excellent coating for warehouse use that is around .50 psqft.
