Epoxycoat - 1 full kit and 1/2 clear kit work for 400sqft?

Would this work? From my calculations that would be about 12 mils of the base and 6 mils of clear.

Would the thinner clear coat wear off in spots?

Why does the website say they are the same shininess?

What's the point of clear then? Wouldn't both coatings be just as smooth?

I would probably use the full kit for your application- the clear coat is very expensive. It does provide UV protection, and I imagine it extends the life of the floor coating. I may call Epoxy-Coat next week to see what the benefits are - I think I read somewhere that you have to add the Clear Coat within 18 hours of the color coating - so you probably wouldn't be able to go back and do it later if you changed your mind.

Back track a few pages in the flooring thread you will see epoxy coat threads showing with clear and another without clearcoat.
The clearcoat looks badass I'm going for it...

I have the same questions regarding Clear Coat application. The Clear Coat basically doubles the price of the epoxying the garage floor - another $200+. We are just going to be using it for standard things like parking the car and storage - is the added cost for "protection and gloss" worth the extra money?

So far, with materials and prep, we're already spending about $300. I want to be able to save money, but I also would like a long lasting floor considering the work we've put in.

We have 2 different clear coats, we have the epoxy clear and a polyurea clear. They both are great products and have different uses. The polyurea should be used if you have alot of UV light. Either of these products can be added later. You will need to do some additional prep if a clear coat is added more than 24 hours after the basecoat is down. We usually recommend starting the clear after about 18 hours of the basecoat.

Wouldn't gloss make every slab imperfection stand out that much more? Just asking.
